Frequently Asked Questions

Field Dressing, processing and taxidermy

All of our hunts are fully guided, and we assist with field dressing and processing your animal. Your harvest will be skinned, quartered, and hung in our walk-in cooler or freezer until you’re ready to head home. For hunters who want a turn-key experience, we can arrange professional butchering services (vacuum-sealed, labeled, and frozen) for an additional fee. Taxidermy preparation is also available upon request—just let us know ahead of time so we can coordinate with a local taxidermist.

Can I bring non hunters/observers on the hunt?

Yes! Many guests bring along spouses, children, or friends who simply want to share the experience. Non-hunting guests are welcome to ride along, take photos, and enjoy the lodge and scenery. The non-hunter guest fee is $150 per day, which includes lodging and meals. It’s a great way to make the hunt a family or group adventure.

Can I have the animal skinned, quartered or caped?

Yes. All animals harvested at ReWild Ranch can be skinned and quartered by our guides, with meat hung in our walk-in cooler or freezer until you’re ready to depart. If you’d like your animal caped for taxidermy, just let us know at the time of harvest and we’ll prepare it properly. For hunters who prefer a full-service option, professional butchering and vacuum-sealed packaging are available for an additional fee.

Where do the hunts take place?

All of our hunts take place on ReWild Ranch property or on carefully managed leased land nearby. This gives us access to prime habitat in the Nebraska Sandhills while keeping every hunt private and authentic. Whether you’re after bison, elk, deer, turkey, or predators, you’ll be hunting animals that roam freely in their natural environment. Depending on the species and conditions, hunts may be conducted on foot, by UTV, or by pickup.

When is the best time to book a hunt?

We recommend booking your hunt as early as possible to secure your preferred dates. Many seasons—especially for elk and deer—fill up months in advance. Bison hunts are available year-round, but the best hides are typically from November through January. Turkey hunts are popular in both spring and fall, and predator hunts can be arranged throughout the year. If you have specific goals (such as prime meat or a trophy hide), let us know and we’ll help you choose the right season.

Recommended firearms and equipment

For bison and elk, we recommend a minimum .30 caliber rifle, sighted in at 50 yards. Muzzleloaders, sharps, and large pistols are also welcome. For deer, turkey, and predator hunts, appropriate rifles, shotguns, or bows are permitted depending on the species and season.Other helpful gear includes:Binoculars and shooting sticksQuality hunting boots and layered clothing (weather can change quickly)Large coolers (or even a small freezer) for transporting meatYour favorite personal hunting accessoriesWe provide blinds, calls, and guides for most hunts, but you’re welcome to bring additional firearms for target practice at our gong range.

Do I need a hunting license?

It depends on the species. At ReWild Ranch, no hunting license is required for bison or elk hunts. For deer, turkey, and predator hunts (bobcat, coyote, badger), you will need to purchase a Nebraska state hunting permit. These permits can be obtained directly through the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission, and we recommend securing yours well in advance since some seasons sell out quickly. If you’re unsure which license or permit you need, our team will be happy to guide you through the process when you book your hunt.
