fully guided bison hunts designed for comfort, success, and lasting memories

At ReWild Ranch, a bison (aka buffalo) hunt is more than a harvest — it’s a bucket-list adventure in the wide-open beauty of Nebraska’s Sandhills. Guided by experienced hosts, you’ll pursue one of North America’s most iconic animals with confidence, care, and comfort. Every detail is handled for you, so you can focus on the thrill of the hunt and the pride of bringing home ethically raised bison meat.

What to Expect on Your Bison Hunt

  • Fully Guided Experience: Our hunts are led by seasoned guides who know the land and the herd. Whether it’s your first bison or your tenth, we’ll tailor the pace and style to your abilities.
  • Accessible Hunting: Most hunts are done from a UTV or pickup, depending on the herd’s movement. You won’t face grueling treks — just authentic encounters, at your comfort level.
  • Family-Friendly: Spouses and family are welcome to join, whether in the field or relaxing in the lodge by the fire.
  • Professional Processing: After the harvest, we’ll dress, skin, quarter, and hang your bison in our walk-in freezer. We have a custom butcher shop on site and will vacuum pack and flash-freeze your meat for the ride home. Custom cuts and vaslue add products like jerky, sausages, and marinated cuts upon request.

Trophy & Meat Details

  • Average Yield: 250–350 lbs of prime bison meat, depending on the animal.
  • From Field to Table: Enjoy the satisfaction of knowing nothing is wasted. Your bison will provide meals at the lodge and healthy meat for your family at home.

Grass-Fed Bison on 500 Acres of Sandhills Prairie

At ReWild Ranch, our bison are 100% grass-fed, roaming freely across 500 acres of Nebraska Sandhills prairie. This natural setting not only ensures a healthy, lean animal but also makes for a thrilling, authentic hunt. Bison are herd animals, and the true challenge lies in patience, accuracy, and respect. To ensure no meat is wasted, our guides will help you prepare for a clean, ethical shot.

Trophy & Meat Care – State-of-the-Art Facilities

We take the responsibility of caring for your harvest seriously. ReWild Ranch is equipped with modern walk-in coolers and freezers, ensuring that your trophy and meat are preserved in the best possible condition until you head home. From the moment of harvest to the time you load your coolers, everything is handled with professionalism and respect.

What to Bring

Because of our remote location, hunters are responsible for transporting their meat home. Here’s what we recommend:

  • Coolers: For a typical meat hunt, plan on bringing three large coolers. If you’re also taking the head and hide, bring at least one additional cooler.
  • Truck Freezer Option: Many hunters place a large freezer in the back of their pickup truck, which is an ideal way to transport your bison safely.
  • Shipping Available: If needed we can arrange shipping through UPS. However, due to our location prices will vairy and can be reletively expensive compared to personal transport.

Your meat will be vacuum-sealed, flash-frozen, and ready for travel. With the right preparation, you’ll be able to take home hundreds of pounds of high-quality, grass-fed bison meat — a harvest to share with your family and enjoy for months.

Do You Need a License for Bison Hunting in Nebraska?

One of the best parts about hunting at ReWild Ranch is the simplicity. No hunting license is required for bison hunts in Nebraska, which means no expensive non-resident fees or complicated paperwork. Just book your hunt, bring your gear, and we’ll take care of the rest.

  • Year-Round Opportunity: You can pursue bison with us any time of year.
  • Best Hide Quality: For those who want to tan the hide, we recommend November through January. The cold weather produces the thickest, most beautiful coats.
  • Best Meat Quality: If your goal is meat, August is a fantastic time — our bison have been grazing on lush green grass for months, producing incredible flavor and tenderness.

And since the Sandhills offer wide-open skies and peaceful prairie views, many hunters choose to make their summer hunt a family vacation — combining the thrill of a harvest with a relaxing lodge getaway.

Recommended Hunting Equipment

Our hunts are accessible to a wide range of hunters. We welcome:

  • Firearms: Muzzleloader, sharps, large pistol, or modern rifle
  • Caliber: Minimum .30 cal, zeroed at 50 yards is ideal
  • Extras: Feel free to bring additional firearms for fun — you’re welcome to shoot at our steel gongs from the lodge deck after the hunt.

We’re here to make sure you feel comfortable and confident. If you have questions about gear, just ask — our guides are happy to help.

Non-Hunting Guests Welcome

Hunting is often a shared experience, and we encourage bringing loved ones along. Our non-hunting guest fee is only $150 per day, which covers lodging and meals. Guests can join you in the field or simply enjoy the comfort of the lodge, the Sandhills sunsets, and the camaraderie of the adventure.

Buffalo Nutritional Facts

Buffalo is an excellent red meat source low in fat, high in protein, rich in flavor. Research on bison meat nutrition by Dr. Marchello, University of North Dakota, has shown that buffalo is a highly nutrient-dense food because of the proportion of protein, fat, minerals, and fatty acids to its caloric value. Comparisons also show that buffalo has a higher concentration of iron as well as some of the essential fatty acids.

Species Fat Grams* Calories Cholesterol
Buffalo 2.2 148 61
